History
In 1905, Ohio native Frank H. Ayres, his wife Daisy and son Donald Ayres journeyed to Los Angeles to explore land development opportunities. Now a century later, the current members of the Ayres family are commemorating that auspicious beginning, which led from developing subdivisions and building more than 30,000 homes, to the creation of a dynamic chain of 16 European-style boutique hotels beginning in 1985. Strategically situated in Orange County, Los Angeles and San Diego County, as well as in the Inland Empire, Ayres Hotels and Suites are near major airports, regional shopping centers, world-famous theme parks, and other popular attractions

Who
Donald Ayres, Jr. and his sons, Donald Ayres III, Bruce Ayres and Douglas Ayres, as well as daughter Allyson Ayres D'Eliscu, have all made major contributions to the success of the hotel chain. The sons are still very active in the business. The company's corporate and hotel staff numbers more than 600.

What
The year 2005 marks the 100th anniversary of the Ayres Family doing business in California, and the beginning of a unique family dynasty in the California residential and commercial real estate industry. The family turned its attention to the hotel business in 1985.

Why
The company plans to use the 100th anniversary as an opportunity to thank guests for their patronage, and to inspire managers and staff to continue their commitment to three core company values, caring for people, valuing teamwork and delivering results. Over the years, the Ayres have developed a reputation for providing impeccable guest service, plus creature comforts like living room-style lobbies, with rich upholstered furnishings, inspiring artworks, and imported antiques, and well-appointed guestrooms featuring special touches like exclusive Ayres Dream Sleeper pillow-top mattresses.

When
Celebrations to commemorate the anniversary are planned for each of the company's hotels beginning in March. Later this year, special observations will take place at the company's hotels in Costa Mesa, Manhattan Beach and Ontario.

In Orange County, there are seven Ayres Hotels properties, including Ayres Hotel/Seal Beach, Ayres Hotel & Suites/Costa Mesa/Newport Beach, Ayres Hotel/Anaheim, Ayres Hotel/Laguna Woods, Ayres Inn Orange/Anaheim, Ayres Suites/Mission Viejo, and Ayres Suites/Yorba Linda.

The Inland Empire collection includes Ayres Suites/Corona West, Ayres Inn/Corona East, Ayres Suites/ Ontario Airport, Country Side Suites/Ontario, Ayres Suites/Ontario and Ayres Inn & Suites/Ontario at the Mills Mall.

Two Ayres Family Hotels are situated in Los Angeles County, the Ayres Suites in Diamond Bar, and the newest property in the growing hotel chain, Ayres Hotel/Hawthorne/Manhattan Beach/LAX

San Diego County is home to Ayres Inn/Alpine.
